Salon 94 Design is a contemporary art and design gallery on the Upper East Side. Located in a 1913 Beaux-Arts mansion across from the Guggenheim, it presents furniture, sculpture, and painting together without hierarchy.
Salon 94 Design treats objects as vessels for ideas. The gallery, which launched in 2017 as an arm of founder Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn's practice, shows furniture and design alongside contemporary art without hierarchy. Located in a 1913 Beaux-Arts mansion across from the Guggenheim, the space houses work by designers like Gaetano Pesce and Rick Owens, sculptors like Huma Bhabha and Takuro Kuwata, and painters including Marilyn Minter and Judy Chicago. Greenberg Rohatyn, who opened the first Salon 94 in her home in 2003, believes that objects express values and philosophy. The design program embodies this conviction: a chair isn't decoration, it's a statement.
