ARCHANGEL

ARCHANGEL is a DJ and producer based in Brooklyn, NY who structures dance sets using video game composition frameworks, drawing from Philly club, Jersey club, house, and Black diaspora percussion traditions.

ARCHANGEL makes dance music that treats a floor set and a game score as the same kind of problem: how do you move a listener through a world. The Brooklyn-based DJ and producer draws from Philly club, Jersey club, house, techno, and percussive traditions across the Black diaspora, threading them through a framework borrowed from video game composition: quests, boss battles, final stages. Her 2024 debut LP CRITICAL HIT, produced across four years and scored partly as a soundtrack to a VICE documentary featuring Big Freedia, is the clearest statement of that method. She's the resident DJ and organizer behind Body Hack, the trans and nonbinary party at Nowadays that folds harm reduction demos, sliding-scale nail salons, and T4T vendor markets into its fundraising nights. The question underneath all of it: what does it feel like when a room gets to be fully itself?

Never miss a ARCHANGEL performance.
