Nia Archives is a musician based in Brooklyn, NY. She produces jungle music layered with breakbeats and vocals, drawing from her Jamaican heritage while exploring themes like body dysmorphia and sobriety.
Jungle runs in Nia Archives' blood (her Jamaican grandmother owned a sound system and played Goldie at family gatherings) but the music she makes from that inheritance is entirely her own. Working out of Hackney Wick and producing under her HIJINXX imprint, she layers breakbeats and diaristic vocals into what she calls "cry in the club music": dark subjects like body dysmorphia and sobriety couched in deceptively warm basslines. Her 2024 debut album Silence Is Loud pushed further, fusing jungle with Britpop and Motown: a move co-produced with Ethan P. Flynn that earned a Mercury Prize shortlist. She keeps returning to the same question: how do you make something feel timeless without faking nostalgia?
