The Armory Show is an art fair in Hudson Yards. Founded in 1994 by four New York gallerists, it presents over two hundred galleries from thirty countries showing modern and contemporary work each fall.
Founded in 1994 by four New York gallerists—Colin de Land, Pat Hearn, Matthew Marks and Paul Morris—who sought a platform to present and promote new voices in the visual arts, The Armory Show stages fall art fairs where over two hundred galleries from thirty-plus countries gather to show modern and contemporary work. The fair divides into sections by curatorial intent: Focus presents artists working outside the mainstream with historical narratives; Galleries shows the fair's core solo and dual presentations; Platform features large-scale site-specific installations; and Presents spotlights emerging galleries under ten years old. The Armory Show was acquired by the London Frieze Art Fair in July 2023. The structure assumes that context—curatorial positioning, emerging voices, experimental scale—matters as much as the work itself.
