Superposition Gallery is a nomadic art gallery in Brooklyn, NY founded in 2018. Operating from temporary pop-up spaces, it represents emerging artists across disciplines and uses exhibitions to resist gentrification in urban neighborhoods.
Superposition Gallery was founded in 2018 by Storm Ascher with a mission to subvert gentrification tactics used in urban development through art galleries. The gallery represents emerging artists but has no permanent home, hosting pop-up exhibitions, performances, and events in temporary spaces. The roster spans artists of different races, ethnicities, genders, and disciplines—each interpreting the meaning of simultaneous existence in their practice. Music and celebration define the openings, filled with dancing, family, friends, and collectors following living artists' careers. Ascher describes Superposition as her attempt at solving gentrification: artists beautify towns yet lack support to enjoy the lifestyle they create. By collaborating with neighborhood-conscious spaces, representation through Superposition allows artists to exist in multiple contexts at once.
