Michael Stern

Michael Stern is a glass artist in Brooklyn, NY. He co-founded Lios, a design studio exploring digital glass design, and was part of the team that developed the first molten glass 3D printer.

Michael Stern's creative practice is driven by incessant questioning about connections and contradictions between traditional glass blowing and digital design. He was an integral member of the team that developed the world's first molten glass 3D printer. In 2018 he co-founded Lios, a design studio built around digital glass, where he designs sculpture, installation, and lighting. His work treats glass as a record, a body full of movement, where every heat, every shift, every stretch stays within its form. Stern is fascinated by the kinesthetic elements of the glassblowing process and the complex discipline required.
