Justin Cudmore

Justin Cudmore is a dance music producer and DJ based in Brooklyn, NY. His sound developed through jazz percussion training in Illinois and exposure to Chicago's house music scene before relocating to New York in 2013.

Justin Cudmore's coming-of-age as a creator of dance music took place in central Illinois, where he grew up in Springfield playing drums as a jazz percussionist in school, while his peers listened to pop music. Chicago's vibrant nightlife and the sounds, rhythms, and basslines of house had a tremendous impact on his unique sound. After graduation, he worked for the influential dance music blog Little White Earbuds, opening him up to the city's thriving underground house and techno scene. Moving to New York in 2013, Cudmore eventually formed a close-knit friendship with DJs Mike Servito and Gunnar Haslam, a Brooklyn trifecta that turned to b2b DJing as a collective under the name Hot Mix. His sound is defined by snaking acid lines, whip smart drums and offbeat rave melodies. He created the Balance resident party at BASEMENT, releases music as Majorettes with The Carry Nation, and runs Major Records with The Carry Nation and Mike Servito.
