Jennifer McCoy

Jennifer McCoy is a media artist in Brooklyn, NY. She creates work spanning video, software, and installation that examines how technology shapes culture, often reinterpreting cinema and television through sculptural objects and robotic systems.

Jennifer and Kevin McCoy are media artists whose interdisciplinary practice spans moving image, software, drawing, painting, and installation. Their work combines artistic production with sustained research into how emerging technologies shape cultural narratives, systems of knowledge, and everyday perception. The McCoys are influenced by Lev Manovich and his theories on digital culture and their work often re-examines classic cinema, science fiction, or television through sculptural objects, net art, robotic movies or live performance. They are well known for constructing subjective databases of narrative material and making fragmentary miniature film sets with lights, video cameras, and moving sculptural elements to create live cinematic events. Based in Brooklyn, they've spent over three decades investigating how media systems organize what we see and remember.
