House of Yes

House of Yes is a performance venue in Brooklyn that combines circus arts, live shows, and community instruction in a carnival-style space with 26-foot ceilings on Wyckoff Avenue. The founders drew from their aerial acrobatics background to establish both nightly events and daytime performance classes.

House of Yes was created in 2007 by Kae Burke and Anya Sapozhnikova, two best friends who just wanted to make art and have a good time. What began as underground parties evolved through two earlier locations before settling in its current carnival palace with 26-foot ceilings, multiple bars, and an outdoor patio on Wyckoff Avenue. Both founders are producers behind Lady Circus, and that aerial-acrobatic DNA runs through everything House of Yes does. The venue is equally devoted to teaching performance arts as it is to hosting shows, with House of Light, a separate community space offering daytime classes and rehearsal facilities. Its "safer spaces" consent policy and gender-inclusive restrooms have set a new standard for nightclubs. The animating conviction: that performance, dance and art can inspire and heal when the space itself is built for joy, risk, and radical welcome.
