GRT Architects

GRT Architects is a design studio in Brooklyn, NY. Founded in 2014 by Tal Schori and Rustam-Marc Mehta, the practice designs across scales with careful attention to materials and craft, from historic facade restorations to custom studios and restaurant conversions.

GRT Architects—Tal Schori and Rustam-Marc Mehta since 2014—designs across scales with an obsessive attention to materials and craft. The practice is founded on learning through building; new ideas emerge from sites, materials, craftspeople, programs, and clients. Whether restoring historic brick facades in New Jersey warehouses, designing a 440-square-foot cedar-clad painter's studio in Dutchess County with a tadelakt plaster bathroom, or converting industrial spaces into restaurants with marbled concrete block and triptychs of aquariums, the work pursues confidently voiced aesthetics married to technical excellence and sustainability, with an awareness of the vast visual and material culture in which it is situated.
