Shayna Strype works in animation, film, and puppetry performance, rooted in analog processes and tactile craft to explore humanity through nonhuman perspectives—objects, animals, natural elements. She thinks puppetry is innovation of materials. Her collaborative installations, like *Every Angel Is Terrifying* at The Boiler with Dane Manary, draw on the tradition of paper dollhouses as miniature world-building but extend that into life-size space. Her multimedia pieces layer puppetry styles, live-feed projections, stop-motion animation, and wearable sculptures to question the destructive human urge to colonize land, bodies, and minds. She is a 2026 MacDowell Fellow and teaches animation at Lehman College.
