Rodney Williams

Rodney Williams is a DJ and record collector based in Brooklyn, NY. He founded Sessions In Sound at Halcyon in 2002 and has maintained a focus on vinyl curation and radio education since returning to Brooklyn in 2012.

Rodney Williams digs for rare records and recording artists, sharing music with conviction about the role of the DJ. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up hearing his parents play James Brown, Isaac Hayes, The Temptations on 45s and 8-tracks. In 2002, he started Sessions In Sound at Halcyon, a Brooklyn venue that became known for hosting then-emerging DJs. From 2009 to 2010, he managed York College's radio station, building its archive and teaching students audio technique. Since returning to Brooklyn in 2012, Williams has appeared across the vinyl record community—Halcyon residencies, Record Store Day, East Village Radio—approaching each set as both an archivist and a listener's guide.

Never miss a Rodney Williams performance.
