Rhonda Willers is an artist in Brooklyn, NY working with ceramics, mixed media, and time-based installations. She specializes in terra sigillata surfaces and authored Terra Sigillata: Contemporary Techniques.
Rhonda Willers works with ceramics, facial tissues, sound, mixed media, and time-based installations in the quiet moments where memory, ritual, and transformation meet. Her ceramic practice centers on earthenware and terra sigillata surfaces—the finest particles of clay suspended in water, combined with earth metals and colorants, then layered with additional washes to create weathered textures. Working with clay and its 28,000-year-old roots, she considers the past, present, and future as inseparable. She authored Terra Sigillata: Contemporary Techniques and hosts the podcast The Artist in Me Is Dead. From 2007 to 2018, Willers taught ceramics and design at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Based in rural Elk Mound, Wisconsin, she creates immersive installations shaped by light, sound, materiality, and quiet contemplation.
