Mary Pat Klein is a fiber artist and knitter based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work spans Broadway costume design for productions including Frozen and A View from the Bridge, as well as community craft facilitation focused on building connection through shared making practices.
Mary Pat Klein has been knitting since she was seven, coming from a family of knitters and crafters. She's a professional who has knitted items for Broadway and television productions. Her garments have appeared in Broadway productions including Frozen, View From a Bridge, and Present Laughter. But Klein's practice extends beyond costume work into something more foundational: she co-facilitates community craft events with the aim of creating community. At "Grieving & Weaving," held at The Green-Wood Cemetery, participants need not be grieving or crafting to join. Klein treats the needle and hook not as tools for production but as instruments for gathering people around shared skill, memory, and presence.
