Erica Linnemann

Erica Linnemann is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She creates ink line drawings depicting figures engaged in the small struggles and routines of urban life, pairing her work with vintage frames.

Erica Linnemann makes ink line drawings that attempt to render both gently and satirically the routine, unspoken labors of urban existence. Her lines range from brutally turbulent to disarmingly simple, each register provoking its own kind of recognition. Based in Prospect Heights, she returns repeatedly to figures as a way to think through mental struggle and the small catastrophes of daily life. Her drawing subjects are collected from everyday life, imagination and inner emotions. The miniature figures in her work are thoughts, ideas and feelings. She pairs each drawing with vintage frames selected by the artist, making each piece truly one of a kind. Her recent show explores what she calls "entanglements" and "what that does to me."
