Body/Head is a musical duo based in Brooklyn, NY. Formed by Kim Gordon and Bill Nace in 2011, the project builds live performances from improvised interlocking feedback, drone, and distortion, with Gordon's voice layered as texture throughout.
Two electric guitars, no fixed score, and a shared willingness to follow the sound wherever it goes: that's the operating principle of Body/Head. Kim Gordon and Bill Nace formed the duo in 2011 in Northampton, Massachusetts, and have kept it almost entirely improvised ever since: live performances built from interlocking feedback, drone, and distortion, with Gordon's voice threaded through as texture as much as melody. The name came from a book on Catherine Breillat's films: specifically their preoccupation with desire, control, and the war between instinct and thought. That tension hasn't left the music. What Body/Head keeps chasing is the place where two guitarists stop performing at each other and start disappearing into a single sound.
